You know what really gets me re: the “muslim men are sexist and have a thing for white women” bs?

Is that white men are exactly the same. Patriarchy is patriarchy. The wording and actions might be slightly different but they are codes for the same thing.

White men fetishize almost all women of color. They turn all Asian women into subservient “me so horny” caricatures and Latina women into “latte” colored vixens and black women into angry, big-assed trollops.

So when an Asian or Latina or Black woman gets sexually assaulted, do we decry white culture for its dehumanization and fetishization of these women? Do heave a big sigh and mutter, “God they really objectify and covet Asian/Latina/Black women and are so sexist.”

No. Never. Because when white people do stuff, it’s never representative of their entire cultures. Hell, they don’t even have a culture, or even an ethnicity, right? We’re the “ethnics.”

There’s ethnic clothes and ethnic food and ethnic people and none of those things are or belong to white people because white people are neutrality. They are the absence of ethnicity and race and culture and bias and subjectivity.

So when a white man sexually assaults a woman, it’s not about what is wrong his culture or his ethnicity or his race or his religion, it’s just a thing that happened, an anomaly (or maybe her fault).

When a white man abuses a woman, it’s not his religion or his culture or his ethnicity, it’s just something that happens because it does. It’s not even that big of deal if he does it and she’s probably to blame and she needs to be investigated and every detail of her life needs to be examined but it sure as hell is not about the sexism and misogyny of white culture.

White culture doesn’t even exist and she probably asked for it.
